Roland's feelings the night before the battle

 Tomorrow is finally the battle. I feel really really nervous right now because in battles anything can happen. The only thing I don’t want to do is loose my life in the battle. Then all I have done till now to gain my position will be for nothing. I really need to win this battle. And I think I am quite sure that I will beat these Muslims and come back with a full glory and I want to be welcomed by my people. I know I have people who follow me but I know there are as many people who do not see me as their leader nor trust me or look up to me. I hope I can win this battle tomorrow and come back as a hero where everyone follows me and will respect me as a true leader. I hate being nervous. I want to get all this over with quick and stop worrying about this but somehow I don’t want tomorrow to come; I am somehow scared of the worst that might happen to me. I pray that everything works out how I wish it to be. 

valuable leaders

The ability to set an example through individual excellence and the ability to make sure that the whole team functions smoothly as a unit. I think both are really important qualities that a leader should have. However I think that the ability to set an example through individual excellence is something that is more valuable and needed for a good leader to have. I think it is really important for a leader to lead the people by setting an example. If the leader wishes the people to be respectful and hard working then he should be that way as well. The people will not follow the leader if he doesn’t have good attributes and respectful examples. If the leader is very lazy and doesn’t seem to care much about the people then of course people would have a difficult time following the leader and following his orders or advice. I think that good attributes that leaders should have are mainly in the following.

Ø  Should be able to set an example to the people

Ø  A leader needs to be trust worthy in order to gain trust.

Ø  Should function with a goof purpose and know what he is doing

Ø  Good leaders should be listening to the people’s opinions.

Ø  Should always be looking to the future.

Ø  They should have a decent personality

Ø  A person that can support and have the ability to keep the people functioning as a group.

In my opinion Ronald a leader in this story was not a good example of a leader at all. He did not listen to the people and did not ask for help because of his pride. He was too prideful to ask for help, which led the people in war to suffer and resulted as many people dying.
